A Mobility Framework for OMNeT++

چکیده
Communication networks are an important application area for OMNeT++. While fixed topology networks are relatively easy to implement with the available means, an easy to use and effective extension for mobile networks is still missing. We present a framework for OMNeT++ to support simulations of mobile networks. The framework is intended to be deployable ’as is’, without the need to adapt existing modules, as well as to be easily extensible to fit the requirements of a particular problem. Especially, it should provide a unified structure, allowing switching between different levels of abstraction, without changing the communication logic on top of it. The framework has three main components. First it provides a set of independent modules that implement node mobility, dynamic connection management and a wireless channel model. Second, it includes a library of standard modules for common protocols. And third, it suggests design guidelines for simulation models of wireless devices, e.g., a blackboard for automatically exchanging information between various communication protocols.

Energy Framework: an extensible framework for simulating battery consumption in wireless networks
Energy Framework is an extensible OMNeT++ framework for modeling battery consumption in wireless networks. It is designed so there is a clear separation between modeling of battery state and energy consuming operations, enabling more sophisticated modeling of system behavior. The Energy Framework is largely implemented in “pure” OMNeT++; it has been successfully incorporated into the Mobility F...

In this paper, we propose a cross-layer extension for the INETMANET framework of OMNeT++, which utilizes mobility control knowledge to enhance the forwarding of routing messages. The well-known mobility meta-model from Reynolds is used to provide a realistic representation of the mobility behavior of autonomous agents with respect to the various influences those agents have to face in real-worl...

Wireless communication has attracted considerable interest in the research community, and many wireless networks are evaluated using discrete event simulators like OMNeT++. Although OMNeT++ provides a powerful and clear simulation framework, it lacks of direct support and a concise modeling chain for wireless communication. Both is provided by MiXiM. MiXiM joins and extends several existing sim...
